Senior

Farmgirl is required to ride one handed in shows due to Molly being over 5 yrs old...she's considered a senior. Farmgirl has been working really hard to get it right. Still have a ways to go but she's getting there.

Slow, slow, quick, quick

Ken and I have been taking ballroom dance lessons every Thursday for the last month. Surprisingly, he was the one that signed us up. I have to say, I was resistant to the idea. I love to dance but I just didn't have the desire to take lessons. I'm so glad he insisted we do it. We are having a great time. Needing new shoes and dresses was just a bonus! The pattern is Vogue 1086 by Tracy Reese. This was a test run of the pattern. I'll need to make some adjustments to the next one. Raise the neckline for one...wowee...it is super low! I have it pinned in the photo below and will tack it before I wear it out. Plus, I think it runs on the large side. I'll need to take it down at least one size, possibly two. The fabric was from Joann's and was on sale for 40% off. The total for this dress was about $16 in supplies. Not too shabby. I think I'll wear it with a sweater tonight to Dance. We're learning single time swing tonight.

Shakin' in my boots

It isn't often that a pattern gets the best of me but darnit this one has thrown me for a loop!
Farmgirl needs a huntseat coat for her upcoming equestrian shows. I had visions of a gorgeous teal lined charcoal coat. Luckily, I decided to do a test coat in this inexpensive fabric first.

This is as far as I've come...to the collar. sigh. linings, welted pockets, multiple layers of stabilizer...it's a nightmare. I'm hoping I get my sewing mojo back soon and can tackle her real show coat soon.

XY

Please welcome my new nephew, Baby D! He arrived safely on March 8th weighing in at 7 lbs 6 3/4 oz and 20" long. Colette, my baby sis', did a fantastic job and Derrick was an A1 coach. We are so blessed to have him here.
Congratulations Colette and Derrick!
