12 hrs later...

and my sewing room is still very messy BUT my fabric closet is getting close to completion! Now, that doesn't mean all my fabric is put away...it just means my closet is full. I'll have to store the less worthy fabrics in tubs. I found some delicious fabrics I'd forgotten about like this...

and this delightful fruit children print...

and is that some oilily I spy???

Tomorrow will likely be another 12 hour day. The handy man is coming to attach my L shaped desk to the wall at 6. I'd better have that area cleaned up. I'm determined to have everything done by Tuesday afternoon so I can sew Tuesday night.

Focus?

where are you??? My sewing room is in desperate need of organization. I have half of it pulled into the living room. The other half is crammed on one side of the sewing room so Hubs could put in some mammoth cabinets...thanks Babe! Hubs even took the kids boating and fishing today so I could work on getting everything back in the room. Sigh, here I sit without focus. I think I'm overwhelmed with the 16 gigantic tubs of fabric, the 3 equally enormous tubs of patterns, yarn, scrap booking stuffs, trims, zippers, etc.

I'm itching to do the Winona sew-along Nancy has started on Fledge. Those goodies above are earmarked for some funky Winonas for Baby.
okay, okay....getting off my duff to actually start. Happy Sunday everybody.

You have to kiss a lot of toads...

before you find your Prince.

Baby is working her way through every toad within 100 yards of our house...that's quite a few princely prospects. Anytime she's outside this is what she has in her hands...

Hmmm....this one's a bit puny

but, what the heck?

Nearly Done

Giveaway aprons are 2 steps from being completed. :-) Sorry for the delay...we've had a busy couple weeks with 3 horse shows.
Waitin' for the next class on her trusty Mare, Molly.

I have to say, English is my favorite to watch. It's a much faster pace and the horses really move out.

I was SO proud of Farmgirl. She entered 20 events and brought home 20 ribbons, including 3 firsts, 6 seconds, and 2 thirds. It was so fun to see her win. She was clearly a crowd favorite as a huge cheer would go up every time she placed. I think it's because she's the littlest rider by 3 years for her class. She's the middle rider below. She also got High Point Reserve for her class. That means she received the 2nd highest total points for the weekend shows.

Thank you for the kind compliments on the baby blanket for my new niece. Several people asked where I acquired the patterns. Most of them were from Needlecrafter. Some were enlargements from a Japanese embroidery book I purchased on Ebay. As for the simple piecing pattern, I just made it up. If anybody is interested, send me a message and I'd be happy to tell you the piece measurements.

Essence

I had a significant amount of time today to just think while I scrubbed the entire carpet of Jedi's room...that'll be another post titled "Free Chocolate Lab."

I pondered my many blessings, including my family but mostly I thought about my eldest...Abi Rose. Perhaps, I focused on her because we spent the last two days together at her horse shows.

Every child is special in so many ways. Parents cherish each of their children for different reasons...not one less or more, just differently. I think many of us forget to tell our children exactly what makes them special. Abi Rose is one of those children who is loved by all, a shining example of sweet, good natured , wholesome beauty. I don't mean physical beauty, although I think she's gorgeous, I mean her very essence. The part of her that never speaks ill of people (little brothers excluded), her persistent nature to do better, her kindness, her thankfulness, her giving nature. She's the child that thanks me for cooking every meal even if it's dreaded brussel sprouts. She's the one who writes special poems about the ones she loves. She's the child that includes everybody (again, pesty little brother excluded.) She's the first to offer help. I cherish these things about her. I pray I can uphold Gods trust in me with this special gift that is Abi Rose.

Pieced

Well, I finished piecing the baby blanket for my newest niece but now I need to decide whether to tie or hand quilt. I've never hand quilted so I'm a tad nervous about messing it up. I think these two chicken scratch blocks are my favorites.

but then again, this bay colt is a doll...
and don't get me started on this acorn totin' squirrel

Refashioning

Wardrobe Refashion is one of my favorite sites to visit. I love all the creative ideas people have. My refashion wasn't so much fashion as necessity. Farmgirl needed a velvet helmet for her English riding. Well THIS was one of the least expensive. Um, yeah....no. So I took an old velvet skirt I no longer wear. Snip, snip, snip...sew, sew, sew and voila!

A velvet helmet cover for the price of nothing! My very favorite.

Old Mother Hubbard

While working on this...

I looked up to see it was 5 o'clock, my cupboards were nearly bare and I didn't have time to run to the store. Here in Northern Michigan, a trip to the store involves a 20 minute drive to town. Time to scavenge the fridge and pantry.

One chicken (too frozen to use for last nights dinner), half an onion, 2 floppy celery stalks, 1/2 bag of nearly bad carrots, last couple sprigs of rosemary and my last 3 potatoes... voila, dinner! It's cooking now...woohoo. Best part, it's a one dish dinner so cleanup will be quick. More time for me to work on that adorable baby blanket.

overheard...

at lunch today.

Jedi, "I know why it's called girl cheese."

Baby, "why?"

Jedi, "because they make it out of girls."

Baby, "noooooo!"

Jedi insisted I make him "boy cheeses" up until about a year ago. I still can't get him to believe they are gRill cheese sandwiches.
