Keep on keepin' on

I had such good intentions about getting back on track with my blogging and sewing. Alas, life makes other plans for you. My mil, Nancy, is back with us for a few weeks. We took her to do a Mental Status Exam about 10 days ago and the results were not good. The neuropsychiatrist pulled Ken and my bil aside to say it was pretty bad and she needs 24 hour supervision and will probably need 24hr skilled care soon. He and the neurologist are thinking it is a rare condition of Frontal-variant Alzheimers. She is only 62 so this would be considered early onset alzheimers.

While I expected "bad" news I was shocked to tears to hear how bad it was. She is unaware of what is going on. She exclaimed, "I totally aced that test" upon coming into the waiting area. The neuropsych and neurologist are going to tell Nancy, mil, a diagnosis on at her next appointment. The 25th. It's like this big huge countdown to ground zero...catastrophe...the sh#* hitting the fan...her devastation. She'll never be able to be independent, drive a car, have her grandchildren stay the night. It is weighing heavily on my heart and nerves.

I am wearing thin. I have to be on guard constantly as her behavior is dangerous for the kids. (Trying to give Baby an overload of vitamins) We've already had several "incidents" and I am having to farm the kids out to family members as often as possible.

Luckily I have the most awesome supportive family you could wish for. God bless them...I would literally be lost without my mom and sis. Even though Nancy has treated my family with ugliness, contempt and rudeness for most of my marriage, my family has been nothing short of kind, respectful and compassionate to her. This is a blessing to me beyond words.

I am cooking up a super awesome 100th post give away...think custom made vintage...feminine and sweet!

Love to you from lower Michigan. Wishing I could be closer to help you more, but know that I am ALWAYS here for you. Feel free to farm the kids out this way for a while...my gang would LOVE it!

Love and prayers to you and yours..
